Student success and support
English — finding the right support
If you are struggling with your studies, organisation or daily life, ask for support early. The services below assess requests according to the programme, your student status and the relevant scheme.
Your first contact at F.Et.E.
For a question about a class, instructions or assessment, contact your teacher and, if needed, the academic coordinator for your level. For applications, course registration, timetables or access to services, email secretariat-fete@phillia.parisnanterre.fr. State your programme, student number if available, the problem and what you have already tried. Do not send medical documents to the departmental office.
Reception: Paul Ricœur Building (L), ground floor, office LR12b, Monday–Friday 9:30–12:30 and 13:45–16:30. If you have classes during these hours, email to request guidance or an appointment. Academic coordinators and contacts.
Tutoring, mentoring and study methods
University tutoring is free for first-year licence students (L1); mentoring is intended for L2 and L3 students. Support may cover study organisation, course content and university work methods. These licence schemes are not automatically available to DU students: ask F.Et.E. which support applies to your enrolment. University contact: gestion-tutorat-mentorat@api.parisnanterre.fr.
For SDL–F.Et.E. tutoring, contact Sülün Aykurt Buchwalter: saykurtb@parisnanterre.fr. Ask about eligible levels, sessions and registration before attending. Tutoring and mentoring information.
Meeting students and practising French
The Parrainage programme connects new students with students familiar with the university. Create a profile with your programme and interests. The Buddy System pairs international and local students. These exchanges help you discover the campus and use French in everyday situations.
F.Et.E. welcome activities, teacher-led outings and cultural events also provide opportunities to meet French speakers. Read departmental announcements and check registration, available places and any contribution before taking part.
Independent study and digital resources
Activate your university account via digital identity, then use the digital portal and CoursEnLigne spaces provided by your teachers. For technical problems: DRI helpdesk.
University libraries provide books, online resources, computers, equipment loans subject to conditions and study spaces. Prepare your reading, research documents and work in groups. Consult library services and opening hours and closures.
Planning further study and employment
The SUIO advises on study choices and further education. The BAIP offers employment support, workshops and events. Consult Accompagnement Parcours Insertion (API) for appointments and eligibility. Referral to the BAIP does not make an internship part of your DU programme.
Financial difficulties, housing and daily life
Book a CROUS social-service appointment through MesServices.etudiant.gouv.fr. The SAiVE advises on one-off assistance and fee exemptions, subject to eligibility, deadlines and a committee decision: aide-vie-etudiante@api.parisnanterre.fr. Check eligibility and follow the official exemption procedure before paying fees. Financial support procedures and deadlines.
For arrival in France and housing guidance: Welcome Desk, welcome-desk@drim.parisnanterre.fr. F.Et.E. provides guidance but does not allocate housing. All university support services.
Health, disability and protection
The Student Health Service (SSE) provides advice, nursing care and medical or psychological appointments: 01 40 97 75 33. For disability or health-related study adjustments, contact the SHA: service-handicap@api.parisnanterre.fr. Needs are assessed with the SSE and the programme; adjustments are not automatic. SHA ; SSE.
Campus emergency: Security Control Centre, 01 40 97 74 00; immediate danger: 112. For violence or discrimination, use official reporting contacts.
Developing writing and language skills
The écri+ scheme and the C.A.F.É. writing support centre provide resources to practise spelling, punctuation, verb forms, sentence construction and the organisation of ideas. Writing workshops and tutoring complement independent exercises on CoursEnLigne. Check registration, timetables and certification requirements on the official écri+ / C.A.F.É. page.
The Maison des Langues also offers independent learning resources and language practice activities. Check eligibility for your programme before registering for workshops or the Passeport langues: Maison des Langues and Passeport langues.
